Smart Mess Project is a free community that develops Smart Mess Framework using Spruden Core. The project began in 1999 during the development of the Spruden Elementary Project.
Smart Mess with Spruden Core includes toolkits for building cloud data or a website. Starting from version 7.0 Smart Mess consists entirely of modules. Starting from version 8.0 the authorization module is not included in the base assembly.
The current version is 9.7. For version 6.4 only fixes are created for critical security issues.
The Smart Mess distribution is evolving and branching in different directions. This project currently only uses the Spruden core. The latest versions of Smart Mess were created for the Linux and UNIX upstream.
After some refinement, it is possible to run Smart Mess on Windows IIS.
There are Smart Mess builds for cloud storage or CMS. Data is stored in an SMFS tree structure based on a relational database. Smart Mess is distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL.
